How does this ink differ from standard offset CMYK?

Standard offset ink is designed to be absorbed into paper or cardboard — the drying mechanism depends on the substrate's porosity. Ink for non-absorbent materials dries exclusively through oxidative polymerization and contains special resins and oils that ensure adhesion on smooth synthetic surfaces — film, foil, OPP. It also has lower migrant pigment content and contains no mineral oils, which is critical for contact with food products.

Is this ink suitable for beer labels?

For beer labels that undergo alkaline soak-off during bottle recycling, special fast-alkali-resistant ink variants must be used — in particular, replacing standard magenta with alkali-resistant rubine red. A special water-based varnish for beer labels that withstands alkaline conditions must also be used. Contact our technical department to select the correct combination.

How much time is needed between printing and packaging a food product?

For food packaging, it is recommended to allow at least 3–4 days between completion of printing and packaging of the product. During this time, oxidative polymerization completes and residual odor decreases. Printed stacks must be ventilated after printing. The exact time depends on the percentage of ink coverage, ink film thickness, and storage conditions of the printed materials.

Can UV varnish be applied over this ink?

Applying UV varnish over this series requires prior consultation with our technical department. A water-based OPV varnish, either in-line or applied separately, is recommended and proven. For IML and standard applications, a confirmed compatible water-based varnish is available. A separate specialized water-based varnish is used for beer labels.
