What do I need to provide to order a custom-mixed pantone?
Either one of two things is enough: a PMS shade number from the Pantone catalogue (e.g., PMS 485 C) or a physical color sample. If you have a specific substrate the color will be printed on, it's best to provide that too, since the same pantone can look different on different materials.
How long does production take?
The standard turnaround is 1–2 business days from the moment the order is received. During this time, the laboratory develops the formula, the colorist produces the ink, and it undergoes quality control on a proofing press. For urgent orders, please check the possibility of expediting with our manager.
Can I order a pantone for food packaging?
Yes. For food packaging, we produce custom-mixed pantones based on low-migration food-grade series that comply with EU No 10/2011 and SR 817.023.21. Be sure to mention when ordering that the pantone is intended for food packaging — this determines which base inks we use and which documentation we provide.
Why does the same pantone look different?
The color of a pantone depends on the substrate it is applied to. Coated paper, uncoated paper, film, foil — each material reflects and absorbs light differently. This is why Pantone catalogues have separate C (coated) and U (uncoated) versions. When ordering, it's important to specify the substrate type so we can match the formula to your specific material.
